The Volunteers will have to perform a basic pre-screening of the kids to shortlist the kids who need further medical attention. The Volunteers would initially be briefed on the methods of Screening and also will be assisted by Senior Volunteers till the Volunteers are comfortable. The Basic pre-screening would involve Height and weight measurement for BMI index, eye check up, chest pain test, checking for any existing health problems etc. Utilizing this data, a general physician will check the health of each child, asses his/her problems and refer to specialist doctors for further checkups or treatment.
The Health program, started in the first week of July, has completed pre-screening in 13 Government Schools and the general physician check in 4 schools among them. Robert Bosch has collaborated with YFS for providing medicines, transportation, and also financial assistance for the treatments of any major surgery. 250 Doctors have agreed to donate their valuable time and expertise in serving the under privileged children through this Program. The Program also plans to cover the dental check up of the children by deploying Mobile dental Vans in the schools. General Medicines are carried to the Schools to be dispersed to the children who are suffering from minor health problems treatable with medicines. Around 15 Volunteers are engaged in the weekdays to volunteer in their nearby schools to conduct pre-screening. 25 Seva Vacation Volunteers have been part of the program, with the number likely to grow in the coming days.
